The Story of the Ribbon
Have you noticed a new, recurring motif to appear at HKIS? Visit the revamped school website, read the weekly newsletters or watch the newest video, and it’s impossible to miss…the ribbon!

Where did the ribbon come from?
The concept of the ribbon originated from a branding exercise completed with the new website vendor, Interactive Schools. Their agency was tasked with introducing impactful visuals on the new homepage that would do more than just look good. Together with the HKIS website team, the ribbon was chosen as a rich storytelling element. Since the new website launched in February, the ribbon motif was incorporated into the Spring Celebration on May 3 and brought to the big screen in the premiere of the new schoolwide video. It’s been a key design element in recent school communications.

What does the ribbon represent?
Imagine a ribbon weaving through the vast landscape of the HKIS campus. While striking, this imagery symbolizes more than just a beautiful design element.
This ribbon represents a unifying force at HKIS–the school mission and the journey it provides for students.
The HKIS mission is what ties programs together, it gives purpose to spaces, it guides teachers and defines how students learn. It maps out a path to graduation full of exploration and discovery. The mission ties HKIS together as one school.
