Primary School Highlights
Here are some of the ways we learned and served that made us smile!

New Beginnings: Building Bridges Across Generations
This year, Reception 1 launched a new service learning journey by welcoming elders from Mighty Oaks into our learning spaces. Our 4- and 5-year-olds engaged in storytelling, singing, and creative play with their guests, forming a reciprocal relationship full of warmth and discovery. These intergenerational moments became a highlight of our year—reminding us that learning is most powerful when it’s shared.

'Share a Story' Week: Spreading the Joy of Reading
'Share a Story' Week brought our Lower Primary community together through book donations, read-a-thons, author visits, and joyful dress-up days. Students connected with peers from local schools, gifting over 700 thoughtfully chosen books. In April, Grade 2 students wrapped up their reading buddy visits with Ta Ku Ling Ling Ying and Fung Kai Innovative Schools—sharing stories, snacks, and smiles in a celebration of literacy, friendship, and community connection.

Learning Beyond the
Classroom Walls
This year, Lower Primary embraced outdoor learning by exploring how curriculum connections could come alive outside. A highlight was “Our Hong Kong” week in January, where Art, Music, Library, and PE lessons celebrated the unique environments of our city. Students especially loved taking PE to South Bay Beach, deepening their appreciation for Hong Kong’s natural spaces while engaging in joyful, hands-on learning experiences across subjects.

Celebrating Creativity
Upper Primary students showcased their creativity during its inaugural Art Exhibition! As an extension of student-led conferences, UP artists guided their parents through the 7 & 8th floor playground and Chinese Cultural Center, highlighting their artistic talents and providing a unique opportunity for parents to engage with their children's work. The vibrant atmosphere and impressive artwork made the exhibition a memorable experience for all attendees.

A Mighty Effort: Service Learning Field Trips
In partnership with HKIS’s Service Learning Coordinator Lindsay Ernst, the Grade 3 team launched its first service learning field trip to "Mighty Oaks.” As part of their changemakers unit and an extension from the partnership started in R1, students learned how to step into the community, learn from the world around them, and work toward making a positive impact by building connections with the elderly in our local community.

Serving UP Sustainable Fun
Adding to its collection of student leadership groups, the Green Dragons was launched this year in the Upper Primary for the first time! Meeting with similarly passionate classmates and teachers, these young leaders have grown and harvested plants in the UP Farm – and then brought the farm to our Dining Hall tables with a monthly "Farm Friday." Promoting sustainable practices, the Green Dragons inspires its peers to engage in environmental stewardship, showcasing the power of youth in driving positive change and nurturing a greener future.
