Primary School Highlights
See how the Primary School was 'Serving Together, United by Grace' this year!
Lower Primary
The Lower Primary fills the school day with hands-on, multi-sensory activities that help students make sense of the world around them.
Play is Who We Are
In Lower Primary, we believe that play is a natural and authentic way for children to make sense of and learn about the world around them. Reception 1 through Grade 2 learners encountered environments and experiences carefully curated with hands-on, multi-sensory, inquiry-based materials that built conceptual thinking. Our educators explored the concept of belonging through play and emerged with a deeper understanding of how play develops learning identities and creates access for all children. Whether it was transforming a classroom loft into a spaceship following the Artemis II expedition, making tents in the community space to investigate properties of light, or engaging in Explore and More discovery sessions, our Lower Primary students grasped that play is who we are.

Exploring the Outdoors: Beaches, Mountains, and City Walks
This year in Lower Primary has been rich with exploration, movement, and connection. Across R1–G2, students enjoyed trips to South Bay Beach, hikes along the Wilson Trail, and journeys up the hill behind the school. Memorable experiences also included R2 Skywalks through Central and a vibrant “Our Hong Kong” week led by our specialist teachers, celebrating the amazing place that we call home.

Dual Language Learning Takes Flight
This year, we were excited to launch our Dual Language Immersion program in Reception 1, beginning in two of our ten classrooms. Using a 50/50 Mandarin–English model, 32 students learned through play, stories, movement, and inquiry. Our first year has been a wonderful success, nurturing confident communicators and joyful language learners.

Choice and Voice through Student Clubs
UP learners engaged in a wide range of Student Clubs. With choice at the center, students selected clubs that sparked their curiosity. Across the year, more than 40 unique clubs were offered, including Model United Nations, Praise & Worship, DSLR Photography, Cake Decorating, Sci Fi, and many more. The options foster opportunities for connection, exploration, and developing creativity, resilience, and collaboration.

Performing Arts Unites Community
UP students and the community enjoyed another outstanding year in Performing Arts, featuring grade level concerts, Choir, Band and Strings, and the musical School of Rock. Cantonese opera group, One Table Two Chairs, also worked in residence this year, celebrating local music and culture. These experiences brought students together and strengthened our shared sense of community through performance and collaboration for all members involved.
Students and parents immerse themselves in STEM activities at Imagine HKIS, a signature event for the Upper Primary.
Imagine HKIS
Imagine HKIS returned to the UP and was better than ever! With a multitude of ‘Playshops’ and ‘Creation Stations’ ranging from designing guinea pig mazes or learning the science of pasta making, parents and children had an afternoon to explore STEM activities while engaging their creativity, collaboration, and resilience. As one parent reflected, “definitely one of my favorite UP events of the year.” We agree!
