HOMECOMING WEEK 2026
Repulse Bay Day
✦
For those who couldn’t join us, here’s a glimpse into a very special morning at Repulse Bay—our original campus, where so many HKIS stories began.

Alumni and friends stepped back into familiar spaces filled with memories. The morning began on a heartfelt note as Lower Primary and Upper Primary students opened with We Are the Kids of HKIS and the 40th Anniversary Song—an emotional welcome that immediately brought generations together.
As the tour unfolded, guests explored both divisions, reconnecting with familiar classrooms and hallways while catching glimpses of school life in action—from a lively Grade 2 Chapel class in CAN to Grade 5 students preparing Longevity Noodles, and even a peek into R1 and R2. Hearing directly from current students brought today’s HKIS to life alongside memories of the past. In what was once the principal’s office, original blueprints offered a powerful link to the school’s earliest days, sparking reflection and shared stories. And of course, along the way, alumni fondly revisited a few classics—including the iconic rainbow staircase.

The morning continued with an engaging panel that brought past and present into conversation, exploring the evolution of Chinese studies, educational technology, and school leadership at HKIS. The panel was hosted by Justin Hardman ’99, former HKIS IT Director (2009–2012) and current parent (P’32, P’34), and featured Jim Handrich, former Head of School; David Elliott, a pioneer of educational technology at HKIS in the 1980s and ’90s; Daniel Budd, Schoolwide Technology Coach; Kevin Chang, Director of Chinese Studies; and Philippe Ng, who taught Chinese at HKIS for over 30 years.
Throughout the morning, there was a strong sense of nostalgia and connection—alumni revisiting meaningful places, sharing stories, and seeing how HKIS continues to grow while staying true to its roots.
