Behind the Scenes

This incredible installation was created by the Grade Three students of HKIS. Collaborative teams studied plant parts, botanical and insect life cycles, and pollination systems before setting out to create their very own extraordinary garden. The close-up flower artworks were inspired by Georgia O'Keefe and created using oil pastels. The flower and insect sculptures were created using wire, paper mache, and acrylic paint. Students used their knowledge of the parts of flowers and pollinators to plan and create their own imaginative models. They collaborated and considered color, petal arrangement, pattern, and shape.
