ADMISSIONS
SNAPSHOT 2021

This admissions season was one whose beginning came with its share of uncertainty. At HKIS, we adjusted our admissions process to keep everyone healthy, introducing a number of virtual events and features. In the end, it was another successful year, where we admitted a great group of families and students to our community.

2,854 STUDENTS

Across 4 divisions

HKIS’s highest enrollment ever. It includes 10 extra spaces for Grade 2 students.

Finding ways to connect

Hosted two virtual Open Houses, one for Lower Primary and the other for High School. Special thanks to our wonderful parent and student ambassadors, who made applicants feel welcome!

FAST
FACTS

This year at a glance

We had slightly fewer applicants from overseas, with more new students joining who have a connection to HKIS already, such as siblings, or returning students, or children of alumni.

There were slightly fewer new students in the 2020 school year hold US passports, with slightly more holding Hong Kong passports.

OTHER
HIGHLIGHTS

Time for a tour

  • We recorded virtual guided tours for the Lower Primary and High School Open Houses, hosted by student and parent ambassadors.

  • 360-degree tour experiences for prospective families are available on our website. It’s not quite the same as seeing our campuses in person; however, it is the next best thing to being here!

THEY LOVE HKIS!

Talking to new parents

We ask new families, “Why did you choose HKIS?” This year’s top 5 responses, similar to previous years, come as no surprise:

  • Our American-style education – approximately 85% of our students attend college or university in the US.

  • The quality of our teachers – they are the jewel in our crown!

  • Facilities – The finest in Hong Kong, and dare we say, “Asia”?

  • Our reputation.

  • Academic excellence — which speaks for itself, as our Seniors and alumni can attest to matriculating to the finest colleges and universities in the world.
