Dennis and his family at the HKIS High School campus over the summer.

Dennis Morrow, who served as the HKIS principal from 1988 to 1990, returned to the campus this summer after more than 30 years. During his time at HKIS, Dennis actively contributed to the creative process that expanded the high school and established its first traditions. Dennis says that that period at HKIS and in Hong Kong was an important chapter in both his career and his family’s experiences, and was filled with unforgettable memories. When he returned to campus, he was astonished by its incredible transformation— much more space, the new Performing Arts building, and updated middle-school facilities.

Why did you decide to work at HKIS
all those years ago

"It was an international experience we had dreamed about. We wanted to have our family experience what it's like being in another part of the world. We made several friends there and had the chance to open up the high school."

In addition to revisiting the school, he also had the chance to see his family’s former home at the HKIS Scenic Villa. Long time art teacher at HKIS, Tracey Cheung (who now lives there) warmly welcomed Dennis and his family. This visit brought back wonderful memories of their time in Hong Kong. Now residing in Minnesota, Dennis cherishes the lasting impact of his experiences of HKIS. We are delighted he returned after all these years, a testament to the strength of the HKIS community.
